Happy New Year!!

Wow, it's been awhile since I posted on my blog! Double ugh! There are so many reasons and at the same time no reasons why I have not! ;) I think it was just a necessary break. 2011 was the year of medical issues in my family, a year we moved, a year we expanded our business and a year that seemed to hold many challenges. So, I greet 2012 with open arms and excitement! I plan on being back to posting on my blog on a pretty regular basis, sharing what I create, sharing some video's, sharing some svg files and I guess just sharing a part of me. My hope for both you and I in 2012 is that this year will bring you much happiness and health!

Well, after soooo longggg not posting any projects, I finally have one to share. Actually, I have had sooo manyyy to share BUT just not enough time to photograph and post. Double Ugh! But, I am going to try to be a better "crafty blogger" and find the time to do so before they go out the door to someone.

I used the SU Top Note die and the flowers are from Cloud 9 - Chocolate Chalet . The leaf is a die from Sizzix - Leaves and Branch die. I used ColorBox Cat's Eye ink and first inked the stamp with the lighter color and then the edges with a darker shade. Love this effect ... one of my favorites

I also added a touch of fine glitter to spots on the flower, although, it's a bit hard to tell in the pics.

Early this morning, my big brother arrived back in the good ole USA after ONE YEAR!! He is a Colonel in the USMC and a pilot. He has been deployed in the Middle East and left behind his wife and two young sons. It is amazing the sacrifice these men and women make for our country and I am so proud to call him my brother. I must make a confession: I've developed a full-blown addiction to Pinterest. How did I live before I could pin every beautiful image I came across on the web!

If you aren't familiar with this new sensation, Pinterest is a virtual pinboard - "a place where you can create collections of things you love and 'follow' collections created by people with great taste." I constantly find myself coming across images I want to save and it ends up taking up loads of space on my desktop. Now Pinterest has come to the rescue! Any image I come across can be "pinned" to my image boards. You can select your own categories for the boards, so it's easy to stay organized. My favorite part is that each pinned image also has a link back to the original source, which means no more hunting around on Google to figure out where that great product or photo came from! It's also a great place to discover new content from tastemakers and style setters around the world.

Yawn ........ Hello There, Beautiful

Well, hello there all my crafty friends!!!! It's been a longggggggggggg winter! I feel like I am a bear coming out of hibernation! Spring (knock on wood, fingers crossed) has sprung FINALLY in the Great State of Maine!! Wow oh wow is all I can say about this past Winter! We received 102.01 inches of snow!!!

Ok, maybe it was not this bad, but ...... there were days it felt like this!!! What a long cold and snowy winter! But, we are finally getting multiple days up in the 50's and crocuses and daffodils are starting to peek out ... if you live in a snowy location you know what I am talking about ... it's like you hibernated for the winter and a new, fresh, warmer air has blown new life into your cold, frost bitten brain! This blog has felt the subzero temps too and climbed into a deep winter hibernation! But, much like the crocuses, it's SPRING and I promise to be back here often!!

Hope you are all well and I will take this moment to say, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your sweet comments and visits here to stop by and see what I am up to!

Make the Cut vs. the mighty Provo Craft

Documents filed in US District court on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 reveal that Make The Cut has reached a settlement with Provo Craft in the lawsuit over 3rd party Cricut software created by Make The Cut. Provo Craft had sued Make The Cut in April 2010 alleging that Make the Cut’s 3rd party software for Cricut machines illegally circumvented copyright protection on Provo Craft’s products and violated copyright on the company’s Cricut Design Studio software code.
Provo Craft had appeared particularly to be targeting in the suit the recently introduced “back-up” feature in the Make The Cut software, which allowed users to create back-ups of their Cricut cartridges. (The feature was only available to users for a two week period in March 2010 before being pulled from distribution as a result of the litigation.)
Terms of the settlement were stipulated to the court in joint documents filed by the companies Wednesday with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, which had been hearing the case. Under the settlement, Make The Cut is permanently and immediately disallowed from selling software that is compatible in any way with Cricut machines. The company is also required to destroy all copies of the software’s source code.
For the existing software, Make The Cut also is required to take measures within 30 days to disable the 600 copies that were sold of the software with the cartridge back-up feature. Make The Cut is ordered to render these copies of the software completely non-functional until these users update their software to a copy that eliminates the back-up function.
Provo Craft also recently filed suit against another 3rd party Cricut software creator, Craft Edge, in an attempt to stop distribution of their Sure Cuts A Lot product.

What a shame. A shame that a huge company like Provo Craft can out lawyer and out finance the competition.

I am sooo excited with the results of my Cricut Expression Tote! I just finished it and could not be happier! I have looked for a tote to carry my E to crops and either have found ugly ones or expensive ones! And who wants to blow their crafty budget on a bag! Then the other night it hit me ... ding,. ding, ding ... you own a sewing machine, silly ... make one you will love for 1/2 the price! Grabbed this pattern, off to Joann's to find super cute fabric, etc and within about 1 hour I had it finished! Yayyyyy! I altered the pattern a bit .. but, I would not be a "true crafter" if I did not alter something, right! I added pockets on the end to hold power cords, etc. I am working on MY OWN pattern for a cartridge tote to match and will share that when I finish it! Let me know what you think!! :)

If you just arrived here and would like to start from the beginning please go to KAndrew's Getting Cricky. For this blog hop K Andrew is celebrating her big move across the country with a big road trip and of course this hop across the 50 states! She has asked us all to post a little bit about the state we are representing and then a crafty project.

I am representing the Great State of MAINE!!

Maine is located in the upper right hand corner of the United States. It is called the Pinetree State and I'll give you three guesses why?? LOL! We have thousands of pinetree forests across the state. We also have a beautiful, rocky shore and I am fortunate enough to live in the Mid Coast of Maine in a town called Bath, Maine. Although, "Maine" is not listed as one of the original 13 colonies of the United States, in actuality, the "land" which is called Maine was originally part of Massachusetts and so was part of the original 13 colonies but under the name "Massachusetts".

One of our greatest treasures is our Acadia National Park. Located in Bar Harbor, ME it is truly one of the prettiest places in America. It is the 10th most visited national park. My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Acadia/Bar Harbor and one of the fun things we did was climb a mountain called the "Bee Hive". Named after it's similar shape to a Bee Hive!

My project is in honor of the Bee Hive ...... the first and LAST mountain I plan on climbing! ;)

I used Create a Critter for my sweet lil bee and an svg file for the be hive card!

Happy World Card Making Day 2010 ....

Well, today is World Card Making Day ... so I thought I would share three cards with you! The first and third cards I used an svg file on my Cricut to cut out. And on the first card I just taught myself to crochet by watching YouTube videos! So, I made the little flower and then made a rolled flower to go in the center!

I also thought I would share with you what World Card Making Day is .... World Card Making Day began in 2006 as National Card Making Day. Founded byPaper Crafts magazine to bring card makers together at the beginning of the busiest card-making season of the year, it was first held on October 7, 2006. The initial celebration involved the Paper Crafts magazine audience only; however, due to the positive response it received and the worldwide popularity of card making, the holiday became known as World Card Making Day from then on.

Celebrating its fifth year in 2010, World Card Making Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday in October. It's a day for the card-making community -- hobbyists, retailers, and manufacturers -- to unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is the heart of card making.

Woo Hoo ..... First day of school .....

Well, it was the first day of school here and woo hoo is what I have to say!! ;)) Don't get me wrong, I love my lil man more than life itself...but, this Mom was ready for some routine and some actual craft time!! This summer has been a long one! We moved and that in itself was enough to put the brakes on my crafting but add to it that we are (still) having one of the hottest summers on record up here in Vactionland (Maine) we spent as little time at home and as much time as possible at the beach. There too went my crafting time when my lil man might be off playing with toys and I could sneak away for a touch of creativity!

Ahh, but alas this day has arrived....so stay tuned for loads of crafty goodness really really soon!

Hey everyone.....guess what, I have an svg for you and that can only mean one thing.....I am procrastinating and not packing boxes!! It's a good thing that I packed all my crafty supplies up last week because I can tell I would not have had the power to stay away from creating had it not been put away in a box .... err, I mean a mountain of boxes and taped tight!! haha!!

I created this SVG file using my Make The Cut software and an online PDF catalog!! Any guess what catalog it is?? Anyone...... if you guessed SU! you are correct! How fantastic is this MTC software! So now, any stamp or any other PDF catalog image can be converted into a cutting file! Woohooooo!! I could sit here all day doing so .... BUT .... moving day is approaching ALL TOO FAST, so I will resist!! ;) Ok, I will resist at least this morning! ;) Back to packing!

I am an avid YouTube watcher .... err, I mean stalker .... of some fabulously creative ladies out there. One of those is 66msclaudia. She is an incredibly talented woman and she has just suffered a terrible loss of her husband passing away unexpectedly last week. She is now a single mom of SIX children and is in financial trouble right now as they were a one salary household. She is selling all of her paper craft supplies to try to raise money for her and her children. I am posting her first video and if you are interested she has many others with loads and loads of fantastic things to buy! Did you hear that knocking?? That's me knocking on your computer monitor to see if you are all still with me!! LOL! As I said in a previous post, we are in the process of moving to our new home and so posts and projects were going to slowwwwww wayyyyyyyy downnnnnn!! Boy, haven't they! And as of yesterday, projects have completely stopped because I finally packed up my crafting room! Boy oh boy, do I have a lot of stuff! I started packing around 8am yesterday and at 7pm when I finally threw in the towel my husband said "do you really have that much stuff???" LOL! Anyways, so all I have out in my craft room is my computer, so, I thought I'd post an SVG file in hopes you will stick with me until I am unpacked and creating again! :))

We move on July 28th so hopefully I will be creating soon there after!

Just a funny video to share with you today! My postings will be a little bit fewer for the next month because we are moving! I made this card and I just think it is a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e.!!! I almost can't stand it! I do not own Create a Critter but have longed to own it! But, I put myself on a crafty budget spending freeze, so I have had to watch from afar at all the amazingly cute critters that came out of that cartridge! UNTIL, I met (ok, I have not met her......{{stalker talking}}....... ;) Tamara at Scrapcation Getaway! She is incredible and shares incredible svg files!

Pretty simple card, I used Tamara's svg file for the deer and a Spellbinders die for the sentiment tag, added a touch of stitching and that's about it! Hope you enjoy!

My strongest memory of this saying is from my brother who is a Col. in the USMC and was leaving for his first tour in Iraq and he left a note to his two son's with these words at the end of the note.

Here's another layout I did. This is one of my all time favorite photo's! It is on the beach in Destin, FL when we lived there and the sand there is like non other! White as snow! Although, sadly, it looks like it will be greatly effected by the oil. So sad....

Another layout to share today. I used my Expression and Keystone cartridge for the lettering and made stitch marks around each with black marker. I free hand cut the tree and trunk and that was about it. This was my son, Bobby, first fish he ever caught on the FIRST cast he ever made! LOL! Cast the line and first bite was this gem! He thought he was the King of the World that morning! He even brought our kitty, Shirley out for a look, as well as our dog, Brownie! LOL!

Thought I'd share another scrapbook layout today! This is my little boy and he is my world!! He is our only child and he is such a gem! I always thought I'd have at least 2-3 children but thanks to a botched c-section and a rotten ob/gyn that is not possible. No worries, God placed this child in my hands and I need no more! He is such a sweet, kind hearted, funny, sincere, artistic and all around super boy! Umm, no {{cough, cough}} I'm clearly not biased about that. ;)

But, he is my sunshine on a rainy day and any other day!

Thanks card and an SVG Freebie for U...

I created this card in MTC today and thought I'd share. I cut the base on my Expression, as well as, the vellum layer, inside ring layer and text top layer.
I love how it turned out!

The flower I made using a EK Success punch with white card stock. I curled the edges with my quilling tool and them glued together. I then dropped "drops" of Ranger alcohol ink in the center of the bud and it spread nicely outwardly. Once it dried, I sprayed with Glimmer Mist.

Alna Steam Train Layout...

Thought I'd share another layout I recently made! Pretty basic layout and I tried to play off the colors in the picture with my papers. This day we went to the Alna Steam Train for a ride. It's really not called that but we have always called it that because that's the town it is located in. Bobby loves loves loves trains and was so excited to go for a ride. We thought the ride was going to canceled because of rain, but, just prior to our ticket time the rain stopped! Which made the greens of the landscape really pop in my picture!

How exciting the day is finally here....let the hoppin' begin!!

First, a Memorial Day tribute to a true American Hero, United States Marine Corps Master Sgt. Kenneth Hunt who was killed, serving our country, from injuries received during Operation Iraqi Freedom when his Humvee hit an anti-tank mine west of Baghdad. He served proudly in the I Marine Expeditionary Force based at Marine Corp Air Station in Yuma, AZ.
He was a friend of my brother, also a Marine, and left behind a heartbroken family. I never had the honor of meeting Ken but dedicate this post to his memory and service to our country.

Happy Mother's Day! I hope all of you Mom's out there are enjoying the love and affection of your families and if you are not a mother, I hope you are showering your Mom with love and affection!!
I thought I'd post a picture of me, my grandmother (my mom's mother) and my mom. This is on my wedding day ... (was that not obvious ;)) It is the last picture I have of the three of us and I just love it! I love the fact that it was 85 degrees that day (very unusual in Maine on May 15) and my grandmother has not only one sweater on, but, TWO sweaters on!! Cracks me up! My grandmother passed away in 2001 and I sure miss her. She was truly one of the sweetest women I have ever know. But, I love that I have a picture of me, my mom and her mom!

Wow, hard to believe I am going to post something crafty! But, how could I resist when I saw the Libby over at Libby's Little Addiction was hosting her challenge using an outfit modeled by her cutie daughter, Courtney! I also wanted to challenge myself to a ONE dimensional card! Gosh, that's a hard thing to do!! But, gosh......DO I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT!! Ok, not singin' my own praises but I {{love, love, love}} this card! I love the colors, although, my blue is a touch different than the blue Courtney is wearing. But, blue and green are probably one of my all time favorite color combos! Second, I love the sentiment stamp. It reads "First, Think. Second, Believe. Third, Dream. And finally Dare" ~Walt Disney. Love that! And the third thing I love about this card is I used my Martha Stewart Glue Pad to add glitter to the middle butterfly. I just bought that and I love the "concept" however have found that the actual glue pad is a bit quirky. I followed the instructions to a "T" and yet it seemed to dry out even though I put the inside cover on it as well as the outside cover. Do any of you have it? Do you like it? I "like" how easy it was to add the exact stamped image of glue over my previously stamped image, but, don't think it will last too long!

Anyhow, hope you like this card!

Cricut Cake Machine .... I'm just sayin'.....

OK, something has been intriguing me and I have just gotta ask what you gals think about the new Cricut Cake Machine?? I have read so many reviews and comments on this machine that I have frosting coming out of my ears. I have watched videos and even a live UStream on it! I want to embrace the idea of this machine but to me it seems a BIT much! Unless you are a professional cake decorator why would someone spend +/-$400 for this machine? I tried to calculate out what the benefit would be in $$$ ..... in my neck of the woods, a nicely decorated cake would run you about $35. So, you would have to make approx. 12 cakes before the machine gives you any type of financial return (and actually that is not too accurate because I only calculated the cost of the machine. I did not add the cost of the baked goods and supplies that would be added). I understand creativity and so forth, but, is that worth the cost of these machines?

Again, I don't have anything against anyone who wants to buy one .... I really would love to embrace the idea and just can't seem to make it happen! LOL!

What's your thoughts on this machine ????

Am I missing something ????

A Card, a cause, a challenge and a video...

Don't you love when a plan comes flyin' together??!! I do!

This morning I wanted to make a card for my twin sister (I got her by 4 minutes ;) because she is going to walk in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on May 15 and 16th in Boston, MA. I am so amazingly and immensely PROUD of her for doing this!!

Most likely, we will all be touched by breast cancer at some point in our lives. It might touch ourselves, our sister, mother, grandmother, aunt or a friend but we will be touched. A cure is within reach but as with anything the almighty $$$ is what makes it happen! Please consider donating to this great cause.

OK, I digress ...... back to my plan that came together ...... so I needed to make a card and pink would be the obvious color to highlight in a breast cancer awareness type of card. So, here is my card that I came up with for the challenge and to give to my sister ..... the card shape and layers are from an SVG cutting file I have and cut with my Cricut Expression ....

I hereby solemnly swear to be a better blogger!! Whew, has it been awhile since I have paid this blog any attention!! Sometimes life hands you a boat load and that's basically what's happened here!! So many things have been keeping me from this and I really miss it! I miss it because if I am not posting something here then I am not crafting and that is not good! Crafting is a relaxer for me and I need to be more mindful for making sure I have time to enjoy it!

But, last week we had a MAJOR storm come through Maine and for that matter New England. We moved here from Florida and have been through tropical storms and hurricanes down there. Well, this storm that came last Thursday dished out nothing short of hurricane force winds and rain for two days straight! We were in bed on Thursday evening and heard a tremendous force of wind around 1030pm and that was it for our power. We decided there was not much we could do then, so stayed in bed and went back to sleep. Although, I did not sleep much as the wind was so loud it sounded like a train outside our window. Honestly, I don't tend to be a wimp but I was scared laying there. And then at 200am a tremendous "boom boom boom" shook our house and my husband and I bolted up in bed and thought it sounded like the house was falling apart! We ran out towards our great room were it sounded like the noise was coming from. Once there we discovered it was coming from my craft room!! :(

Our metal roof had been partially torn off by the wind and was smashing the windows in my craft room!! We were horrified! We fanatically started moving things into the great room, not knowing if the whole roof would rip off and not being able to do anything about it as it was still ragging outside.

We ended up losing power for four days, although, we had a generator which powered our furnace, refrigerator, some lights and water. The house has been repaired and I am slowly putting things back together in my craft room. The morning of the storm, I had made this card for a friend who had embroidered some kitchen towels for me for my birthday last week! She even brought some cake for me too...

I used my Cricut to cut the butterflies. I used a few Cuttlebug embossing folders for the backgrounds and some Dazzling Diamonds on the butterflies.

I originally saw a similar card over on Kerin's blog and cased it.

Some Christmas goodies...

Thought I would share a few things I received for Christmas that I am most excited about. I can't wait to make some things to share with you over the next year!

First: The ITop ..... wow I am so excited to try this out! If you have not seen it before, check THIS out!! Cool, huh!

I did get the punches that go with it to make it easier and faster. But, I also received the templates so that if I wanted to cover brad with fabric, etc. that would not go through the punch I could still make brad.

Second: Which I am SO excited about is the Cricut Expression! I feel like I am the only one who has not got his yet, but, for a long time I thought my original Cricut Personal cutter was enough. But, recently decided I had to upgrade! So my hubby got this for me for Christmas! YAY! I love, love, love it! He got the limited edition black version and I just love it!

And then he got me this......Make The Cut! Ohhhhhh, I am even more in love with it! This is software to work with your Cricut and cut svg files (which there are thousands of free ones on the internet). I had wanted Sure Cuts Alot but then this was released just prior to Christmas and I started reading about it and got this instead! I LOVE it! Did I mention .... I LOVE IT!

I also got a few new Martha Stewart Border punches.... which I love!

So, I promise to be back to bloggin' this coming week and show you some neat stuff! Hope Santa treated you well, too! :)

Well, this is a big day in college football, at least if your a Florida State fan and a big day in our family. After 33 years coaching, Bobby Bowden will step down. My husband graduated from FSU and my sister-in-law is Bobby's daughter. Fans will say goodbye today to an amazing coach!! Go Noles!

Wow, I have been such a bad blogger! This time of year is so busy! And I know the next week will be just as busy with school out, visiting family and New Years celebrations!! I did want to wish each and every one of you who stops by to see what I am up to Happy New Year! I could have never imagined the number of people who I have met and become blogging buddies through this blog! My wish for you comes with the hope that each of you will have many blessings and a peaceful and happy New Year! I have so many ideas/things/projects swirling around in my head for the upcoming year and hope you'll be along for the ride!

The Ode of Remembrance

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.

I am thrilled to be participating in this hop! If you have not come all this way from the start of the hop, click here and you will be taken to the start!

As millions of Americans remember the sacrifice and courage that our military has made and the freedoms that they afford us by that commitment, we honor them with these pieces of artwork. My brother proudly serves in the United States Marines and so I dedicate this post to his service to our country.

On to my cards...
My first card is the card I made for my AnyHero Card. I was fooling around with my Cricut Home Accents cartridge and never ever saw this flower medallion before! I absolutely love, love, love it...how did I ever miss it?? Anyways, I cut out the brown medallion, faux stitched around it and used a Studio G sentiment stamp in the middle. The pattern paper is from a Paper Wardrobe pack called Winter Casual. And then I used some corduroy ribbon which I don't remember where I got and some Olfray green ribbon on top. And finally, I added three green gems to the bottom.

The second card is my Valentine's Day Card. I also used the Cricut Home Accents cartridge on this card. I cut the "love" sentiment and the tag. The pattern paper is actually a pack I bought at Target's Dollar Spot. And the "Hit, me cupid" stamps is a Studio G. My favorite part of this card is the ribbon on the top of the tag which is pink CAMO!! How cute is that! Imagine what those terrorists would think if they saw that pink camo! ;)
